The Roots of Riggins Urban Barber College
Our story begins with a problem — one that our founder faced while serving in the U.S. Navy. As a sailor, he struggled to support his growing family, often feeling the weight of the financial burden. His dream was to create a better life for his children, but the reality of military pay made that dream feel out of reach.
Then came the opportunity. While stationed overseas, he noticed something unexpected: cutting hair on the ship started to bring in more money than his official paycheck. What began as a way to make a little extra cash for his family quickly turned into a passion. As he honed his barbering skills, he realized that this could be the key to financial independence and a better future.
Making Riggins Urban Barber College
Seeing the potential, he made the decision to turn his new-found passion into a career. After retiring from the Navy, he earned his barber license and immersed himself in the San Diego barbering community. He worked at various shops, building his reputation and sharpening his craft.
His entrepreneurial spirit led him to open his first barbershop, followed by a second. These successful businesses allowed him to not only achieve financial freedom but also serve as pillars of their respective communities.
The turning point came when he realized he could give back to the community that gave to him. He saw an opportunity to create a place where others could learn the skills that had transformed his life. That’s when Riggins Urban Barber College was born.
With years of experience, a passion for the craft, and a commitment to his community, he created a barber school that offers top-tier education and hands-on experience, equipping the next generation of barbers with the skills to succeed.
